Program Overview

The After-School Program at Global Humanitarian Aid & Social Development, Inc. (GHASD) is dedicated to empowering school-aged children from immigrant, refugee, and underserved backgrounds with the tools they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Operating Monday through Friday from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, this program provides structured, high-quality academic support, tutoring, and mentorship, creating a safe and nurturing environment for every child.

Mission and Objectives
Our mission is to bridge educational gaps and promote inclusivity by providing accessible academic resources, personal mentorship, and cultural enrichment activities. We recognize the unique challenges faced by immigrant and refugee students in adapting to a new educational environment. Our program aims to:

  • Support Academic Achievement: Through tutoring and skill-building exercises, students receive individualized assistance in core subjects, strengthening their confidence and capabilities.
  • Enhance Cultural Understanding: The program provides activities that help students learn cultural norms and communication skills, making their transition smoother and more rewarding.
  • Foster Community and Belonging: By connecting with peers and mentors, students develop a sense of community and belonging, which enhances both their academic and personal growth.

Key Program Activities
The After-School Program incorporates a variety of activities designed to support the holistic development of each student:

  • Tutoring and Homework Assistance: Our skilled educators offer targeted help in core subjects, assisting with homework assignments, preparing for tests, and reinforcing classroom learning.
  • Enrichment Programs: Students participate in cultural and artistic activities that celebrate diversity and encourage self-expression. These programs help children embrace both their heritage and new cultural perspectives.
  • Mentorship and Guidance: Each student is matched with a mentor who provides personal guidance, promoting positive behaviors, self-discipline, and academic ambition.
